Not fishing for a fight. saminz September 29 2007, 08:36:12 UTC
I just wish to strongly support the "that every Christian (human) has a responsibility to examine what they are taught by their leaders and come to their own conclusions, prayerfully (carefully, sceptically and with an open mind).

By these additions, you can see I'm no Christian. I hardly believe that air is breathable, in fact :-).

What I do believe, though, is that religion is what you make of it. Your own conclusions, the lifestyle you form from your beliefs and in the end your actions towards your fellow men is what counts...

"that every Christian (human)"

There are Christian animals? Actually, I wonder what those sign language apes think about the whole religion concept.

As a non-Christian, I was trying to suggest alternatives in there - and yes, would be interesting to know if they "got" the concept at all...

Or the fact that the Hindus might take them for a god themselves, or a recycled human, while we're at it ;-).

Beliefs are relevant to human interactions only insofar as they influence said interactions.

Or to put it more simply: I don't much care what you believe, as long as you do your best to be a good person; which you do. So, carry on :)

Not fishing for a fight, although my beliefs are decidedly unorthodox and nebulous and range from Quaker to Pagan. But it occurs to me that you might enjoy some of Madeleine L'Engle's writings about Christianity and faith generally (in case you don't know her, she is most famous for her science fiction/fantasy novel 'A Wrinkle in Time').
