I'm sorry, but the woman with 2 jobs moves to Tampa and becomes a burden on your household so that she can have free childcare? That sounds a lot like taking advantage of you. If you are offering your home, you have the right to set limits. Telling the daughter quitting her 2 jobs and moving in with you isn't acceptable at all would be a very good place to start. Hey, sucks that she has to pay for childcare, but them's the breaks. That sounds cold, but reality is reality. In all things, you must be realistic. If you take on more than you can realistically handle emotionally or fiscally or anythingelsely, then you aren't doing anyone a favor because it will eventually fall apart and everyone, including you, will be worse off than if you had forced them to come up with a more realistic option in the first place ( ... )

Well, T wanted to get into real estate investing at one time, right? There are a lot of cheap short sales on the market at the moment. You could look into buying a cheap one locally for her to live in so it'd be easier to checkin on his mom. Just set up a contract that they pay rent that covers mortgage, taxes, insurance, and utilities. If it's big enough for her, him, his daughter, and grandkids then great because they can pool their income. Otherwise, if her bf's daughter can't afford day care, I wonder if she's looked into assistance for that. When my sister was a single mom and working a crap job, she had both her kids in day care due to a reduced price at the church in my hometown (whose program was widely viewed as the best program in town).there is probably a waiting list for these programs so she should look into those asap ( ... )

I am sorry to hear you have so much on your plate, it all seems to come at once.

Well-wishes not only to T's mother, but also to you and your beloved as you cope with these stressful times.
