if you're going to say that, you would have to consider medicine itself as playing god. I mean, how many things do doctors do on a regular basis that keep people alive who would otherwise be dead?

I suppose. I guess I was just thinking the shocks used now were more similar to what is done in the Frankenstein story. But, you are right.
