[Well hello dere Mr. Kage. You've currently got a lion trotting toward you on the beach with a steak clenched in his teeth.

Since Kage isn't trying to PET him like everybody's he's met so far, he gets ignored for now as Simba curls up on the sand and begins omnoming his steak.]

[Oh, for Zeshat's sweet sake. A lion. Where's a car when you need one? Kage immediately backtracks to his pack and pulls out his pistol, stuffing it into the back of his board shorts.

He approaches, keeping a good distance between Simba and himself, suspicious.

If this is a new breed of communist tiger or laissez-faire goats or whatever kind of economic-theory obsessed animal that periodically infests the boat, Kage will scream. Kill Simba, yes, but definitely scream.]

... you a Marxist, lion?

[That goes right over his head. Simba eyes Kage with the same amount of suspicion. He knows not everyone and everything can be trusted around here. But claws remain in place and he answers after he swallows another piece of meat.]

What's a marxist?

They believe in, uh, the proletariat ownin' the means of production.

[If Simba is an economics-freak animal, that should either send him into a tizzy of ecstatic joy or a right-wing rage and explanation of the trickle-down theory of wealth. ]

[In much the same way he was a few days ago, Gavin's back on the beach. He left the shirt somewhere in the inn, and he never did find those shoes back on the boat. He's picked up his old tan from a few years ago, and, as usual, he's calmly watching the ocean.

There's a bottle in his hand, and he gives the other man on the beach a nod. Hey, he can try to be friendly, at least.]

Hey, man.

[Kage carries the board as he walks on past. And since Kage is in such a good mood...]

You surf?

[The voice is vaguely familiar. He shakes his head though.]

Used to. Can't anymore.

[He takes a drink.] Don't let me stop you though.

[Isn't this guy a bundle of fun.]

Ze-shat, man, you ain't that old. C'mon, at least get wet. Ocean water's healin', didn't you know that?

*Toboe likes the beach, so he's spent most of his time on the island in and around the water line. Which is what he's doing when he notices Kage and the board. He pauses and wags his tail a bit*

Hello.

[Canines. Kage really does like canines, so he troops towards Toboe with a hand down low and extended for the wolf to sniff.]

Kiddo. How's it goin', aye?

*Kage looks human, so Toboe's a bit confused when he reacts to Toboe's true self. But Renna looked human and saw through it, so he's beginning to realize that doesn't mean much on the boat...island...whatever.
He sniffs lightly and looks up to Kage, tail still wagging*

Its good! I really like it here.

[Kage reaches closer and then--

Right, Toboe looks friendly.

Kage's hand dives in to give him a good scritch behind the ears.]

Me, too. 'Snice, ain't it?

[Kusanagi is strolling along the beach, in the surf up to about mid-calf. Her annoyance at not being able to get her damaged arm wet has been substantially ameliorated by the fact there's nothing to see in the water. She wouldn't have been able to surf, anyway.

Of all the people she could have run into, Kage is one of the least irritating, so she acknowledges him with a wave as she approaches.]

[Least irritating. Awwww.

Kage looks up and nods, eyes only flicking down for a microsecond to her swimsuit, then back up to her face. She's incredibly attractive, but Kage tries not to let it be too obvious. He respects her, and he's not a teenager anymore. ]

Kusanagi. Thought you cyborgs hated water?

electroniccrane May 11 2010, 05:56:00 UTC
Kage.

Batou hates the water.

[And so do most cyborgs with a prosthetics percentage high enough to take them to negative buoyancy, but they're not around, so it doesn't count.

She's wearing a very expensive shell, so Kusanagi would be offended if parties with a compatible sexual orientation didn't check her out. For her part, she already knows what Kage looks like without a shirt on, so she just checks for new scars or other changes with a flick of her eyes, invisible beneath her sunglasses.]

Batou, right.

[Kage has never really hung out with Batou, or even had a conversation with him. It's really strange how these things happen, isn't it?

His torso is pretty much the same, though there are the marks of injection sites behind his knees, ears and on the insides of his elbows. They're well-healed, though.]

Can y'surf?

[Strangely hopeful, that. No one else on this bloody island surfs, and while Kage doesn't mind going it alone, he is a social creature at heart.]

[That thing in the water? That's a surfboard. The guy flailing about trying to grab it and get back on because he somehow managed to get his foot out of the leash? That's Remy.

He's been at it for a while now and has actually had a few successful attempts at standing up on the damn board. Go him.]

[Kage squints near the shore, watching, and then after a few minutes of watching Remy flail around Kage tosses his board into the water and follows. He swims out with long, sure strokes and sits up on his board a ways away from Remy.]

... mages, man. Never could surf.

[Remy's ears pick up on Kage's words and he looks to the first mate with a playful glare as he rests on his board]

Hey, now, I've only been at this for...

[How long HAD he been at this?]

Better'n me when I started. I had folks laughin' at me then, too. Don't take it hard, Whitecastle.

[ Kage grins.]
