"Open Season" on Lestrade = possible whumpage, violence, H/C

Lestrade's made a lot of enemies in his time. Criminal enemies. After Sherlock's fall, the sensationalist media plays up Lestrade's disgrace and suspension from his position (along with plenty of photos), and some of those enemies realise that Lestrade is now a man alone, without the Yarders behind him, without so much as a baton for self-defence. In fact, it actually would solve some of the problems faced by the Met's senior leadership if Lestrade just... disappeared.
I'd like to see who (if anyone) realises how vulnerable Lestrade is and tries to watch out for him, before it's too late.
Whumpage, violence, and darkfic don't scare me. ;)

An etiquette question:
Multiple fills are love, right?
I'm dying to see what other people will do with this (because it's such a great prompt!), but I'd also sort of like to give it a shot myself (without stepping on anyone's toes). Is that okay with everyone?

OP sez:
First of all, this is liked being asked "Do you mind getting another birthday present?" So SQUEEE!!!! I'm thrilled. Thanks for considering this.
Second, I've seen lots of multiple fills, and they are encouraged. (When they're what you're talking about - you know, separate fills, not one writer hijacking another's story.) I think the policy is the more the merrier. And since this prompt is pretty broad, I can imagine it going in different directions.

Warning: Explicit violence in future instalments. The man had made himself all but invisible in the far corner, sitting with his back to the other patrons and his shoulder to the wall. Anyone who surveyed the establishment from its entrance or bar would assume that the booth was unoccupied

After another healthy pull on his pint, Lestrade said, "Why are you here? Somehow I doubt this is one of your regular haunts. It sure as hell isn't mine."
"In part, I was going to ask you the same question." Mycroft forced the conversation back toward the path he'd intended. "A man in your line of work accumulates enemies, Greg. And the media coverage of your suspension has announced in no uncertain terms that you're now alone and unarmed-"
"-and that my superiors wouldn't exactly call out the cavalry if one morning I turned up missing. In fact, they'd probably be relieved." Lestrade grimaced. "I can read between the lines, you know

OMG, POOR GREG!!!! OP here. I'm hooked, and I can't wait for more. The complex relationship you've depicted is beautiful. I love Mycroft's concern, and his lack of complete comfort with it. And did I say POOR GREG?!?!? He's gorgeous here. *flails*
