Characters: Oliver Day (oliverplus) and the Tenth Doctor (bit_impossible)
Location: A beach planet
Time: Monday morning of the vacation plot
Summary: Ten dreams of a holiday on a beach, Oliver dreams of a holiday with friends, and the Plane sees fit to combine the two.
Warnings: Alcohol consumption. Also, likely trouble. This is the Doctor trying to take a holiday, after all.

After what he'd heard from other people on the Plane lately, Oliver wasn't half so surprised as he might have been when he received the message about the vacation. Even so, he couldn't help but scoff at the idea of the Machine favouring him. He had a feeling the Machine's favour was something like being subjected to two experiments and the first deathmatch. And in that case, he didn't want any more of it.

Still, he did try to take its advice--it couldn't hurt, right?--and thought about holidays before the next time he left the Plane. He didn't really think it'd do any good, and he had a feeling he'd been right when he felt a rushing and cold sensation and found himself assaulted by a view of many stars. After all that, he was extremely surprised when, instead of the deserts of Gondovan or some unspeakable place of horrors, he appeared on a beach--a proper beach, with a sea breeze and white sand and sparkling, beautiful water. And people, too! Other people on holiday--women tanning, children building sandcastles, teens playing volleyball, and people of all ages in the water, laughing and enjoying themselves.

After a moment of staring, Oliver shook himself out of it and managed to regain his composure. This wasn't the holiday he'd been imagining, but it was fantastic, all the same. He broke out in the widest grin anyone could have seen on him in a long while, and then he took advantage of the situation, stripping down for a swim--a real swim! He tossed his discarded clothing on the beach, settling Samwise very carefully in the bundle of it, and ran out into the water.

He didn't go far--he had a baby rabbit to keep an eye on, after all--but he did thoroughly enjoy his swim just the same. However, it didn't take him long to grow curious about something else that he felt should, by all rights, be part of his ideal holiday. And so, he got out of the water, still dripping, and gathered up his clothing and his rabbit, then set out to take a look at the shacks just up the beach. As one might expect, they were selling ice cream and snow cones and chips and cold drinks, and--to his immense delight--he found one selling a very wide variety of such drinks.

Oliver had a seat at the bar. "A pint of whatever's on tap, thanks." He was grinning from ear to ear again, cuddling Samwise in his dry clothing and still in disbelief that this was even happening. When the drink arrived and Oliver took a nice, long draught, he turned from the bar to look out over the beach and the water and the blue sky and sighed contentedly. Maybe the Plane was favouring him, after all. He could hardly even imagine what could make this any better than it already was!
