Calligraphy Class: China vs Japan
Yesterday was my first day of Japanese calligraphy class (which of course I enjoyed). While taking this class, I'm paying attention to the differences between this class and the class I took a year and a half ago while studying in China on Chinese calligraphy.

First Japanese Earthquake

We just had an earthquake simulator as part of our orientation yesterday, and tonight we feel our first Japanese earthquake. Extremely short-lived, and only a 3.4 according to the news, so nothing too serious (assuming it wasn't just a foreshock). It was very distinct. First Week in Kyoto finished already?
It hit me as I was on my way back to my dorm today - I've been here over a week now. It's hard to believe a week has gone by already, yet at the same time it already feels like I've been here awhile. LJ in China!
I think the last time I was able to reach LJ in China was in February of 2007. Now, a year and a half later, it's back - at least temporarily. Thank you Olympics.
I know the international community is putting a lot of pressure on China right now, but honestly, I didn't think LJ was going to be coming back anytime soon. -

Temporary Great Firewall breach
I go back to China in a few hours, but for the moment, I'm in Hong Kong. I've been here for a few days, but I've been preoccupied with other stuff, and haven't gotten around to posting anything, sorry ( Read more... ) -
Hiatus
From now until mid-September, I may be blocked from LJ due to being in China. If I can access LJ once I get there, I will let you know. Otherwise, don't expect any more posts from me for a few months, and keep in mind that I won't see your stuff either.
