He'd gotten off class early this week. One of his professors (the one who taught in two of his classes) had unexpectedly come down with the flu so the self-study modules had been bumped up two weeks early.
Yagyuu wasn't complaining. Self-study for this class meant he could go home to Kanagawa. It meant he could see his parents, drop in on Rikkai and maybe even--
He halts mid-step, catching sight of a familiar profile up ahead.
"Koharu-chan."
Days like this, he's grateful Niou isn't around to rib him about this.
Koharu stops to a halt. She could feel her heart race as the smile forms at her lips. Could it really be--?
"Yagyuu-sempai."
She tucks a stray lock of her untied hair back behind her ear. "Shouldn't you be in Tokyo?" She asks. Part of her was glad that he wasn't, but she knew he'd gone to Tokyo after graduating high school to attend ToDai...
He has this terrible habit. Inside, he's pretty much all over the place, so outside he has to assert calm.
Yagyuu tucks one hand into the pocket of his pants and walks over. "I'm home for the week," he manages to sound casual... perhaps, too casual that he catches himself and hesitates over what to say next.
"Done with practice?" He nods to the bag at her side.
Koharu shakes her head. "No practice today," she says, staying calm while her heart threatens to burst through her chest. It was scary. And yet she felt absolutely... content.
"It's, ah, it's nice to see you again, sempai," she says, her voice a little quieter than she wanted it to be. Inwardly, though, she kicked herself for not having anything else to say.
