And finally, the last section. It is unbelievably perfect that Elena seeks out where Damon really lives and that that’s the sign that she’s finally ready. I can imagine that she started looking for his Home with a capitol H long before she realized it - maybe deciding that it had to be Europe (that just feels like Damon) and then idly narrowing down the countries until she’d decided on three or for possibilities and then trying to take a peek at a flight itinerary or the baggage tags on his luggage. Before she knew it, she had a plan and she was following it through and somewhere along the way she realized what it all meant.

I love that it ended up being her way of making an effort for him like he’s so consistently done for her. Not that Elena hasn’t made other efforts, but this one is special, you know, and it’s a BFD that she’s ready for it.

Although, sometimes a touch of drama is exactly what’s needed, and grand gestures are called ‘grand’ for a reason.
