Hunger Games

Read the Hunger Games trilogy in the past few days. I'm glad I did- People had been telling me to read it for awhile and I finally reserved the first book through the library (albeit tentatively) last November or so, and only just got a copy now. I liked those books, too. I've talked to some parents who think they're terrible because of the whole kids murdering kids aspect. Seemed like good entertainment to me- I always recommend them Battle Royale ;-)

I think that if the main character ever relished killing the other kids then I would have a problem with it (as a parent). It's funny how I haven't really heard of a big anti-HG campaign with Christian parents though- violence is ok but magic (Harry Potter) is not? PFF.

That would frame it up differently, indeed.

It is weird how little of a problem most people have with violence as opposed to many more natural things (let alone supernatural). I don't know what's up with that...

So glad you read them! Love those books. You're right, they aren't on par with Harry Potter or anything, but they are a fun, good read.

They're definitely books I'd buy to read again, that's for sure. I think the City of Ember series wins on one point though- I really love that you know WHERE it's happening. I wish that there was less vagueness to where Hunger Games districts are. Silly, I know!
