Kindergarten starts today.  I am not okay with this.

Kindergarten Curriculum:

Language Arts:

Rhyming (recognizes a rhyme)

Rhyming Application ( says a word that rhymes)

Syllable Segmentation (Child is able to say each part of the word)

Phonemic Awareness (Hearing sounds in words)

So Jack and I are finally back from the Flint-St. Louis-Houston-Flint trip and what I want to know is: why is it that my son's best grandparents are my step-mother (who hasn't been married to my father for several years) and her new husband?

My new, clean and organized office is...amazing.   Mejdu did an incredible job sorting it out and organizing it, a job probably made easier (by far) because I wasn't here to muck it up.  Everything is tucked away neatly, I have two work tables, books are on shelves, paper is stacked in tidy piles just waiting for me to write something, markers, ( Read more... )

So today, we registered Jack for kindergarten.  As it turns out, putting your kid on the school bus for the first time isn't the only difficult part of the process.
