So I'm still trying to figure it out. Why in the world is there such a strain between goths, deathrockers, punks, and psychobillies. It's very odd to see what all the groups do. They bash each other, and I'm going "what the fuck?" Aren't we all the dark sorts (well, maybe not the punks but you know what I mean). It just does not make sense to me ( Read more... )

I guess I've seen it a good deal between the ones in different parts of Europe and America. I know that alot of the punks just really dislike goths, but I guess it has something to do with the whole class system still.

I'm glad to see I'm the only one seeing it. Guess I gotta find a local deathrock or psychobilly night in my area.

they're struggling to be unique and special and there are subtle layers of goth, emo whatever... the same way we got Christians... (catholics, presby's, reformed.. etc) I... guess... maybe the punks think the goth's are too dark... or something.. ?

I think most punks are just too close-minded about anything other than themselves. I guess it's never gonna be a happy and cohesive group of outcasts like there used to be. But at least the internet connects those of us with similar interests.

There's a lot of tension between goths and deathrockers in the UK. It's nothing to do with us trying to be unique or whatever. The main issue rises from the fact that goths see deathrock as this new thing that's trying to take over or they just think it doesn't exist. Deathrocks viewed the same as like EBM in many camps.

Most goths are really closed minded and can't accept new music because they're still stuck in the 80s. They go to crappy clubs that play the same sisters of mercy song like 10 times whilst the deathrock events struggle.

That and you know, people get together at wgw and bitch about deathrockers like me, my friend Bex and Cavey Nik because we're public enemy number 1 for being a bit different. It's all rather silly.

*nods* That makes better sense. I know that there are plenty of goths that are like "yeah...deathrock. It's one of those passing phases." That bugs me, because deathrock is rooted in goth's past.

I have to admit, I do wish I was alive in the 80s, so I could have experienced some of these things, but I guess you gotta live with what you live with.

I think WGW and WGT both have become almost a fashion show instead of a bunch of concerts. I guess there's problems everywhere.
