Steve Irwin died today.
I almost cried at work, but waited until I got home.
I liked him.
I'm a sucker.

It just goes to show how many ways there are to die in Australia - that's why I don't live there anymore.

Ignore this display of sentimentality - I'm just being uncharacteristically soft and weepy.. It's just that he was so good to the animals, anyone who loves wildlife that much is a hero in my book..

End of patheticness.

Was the last sentence in jest? I can think of many ways I could die in London too ;)

I know, you pretty much only need to step outside your front door to be beaten to death for the last 10p you have in your pocket.. In fact I think I'd prefer death by stingray!

I bet none of them involve stingrays!

It's not the first thing that come to mind.

Didn't realise that you were an Aussie.
Really sad about Steve. he reached a vast audience with an important message.

A long displaced expat!
Sad, dammit - he was doing good things.

I did think that was sad and you're about the fourth comment about it I've read about here, so he was more well known than I would have thought. It is giving me an urge to go scuba diving again, though. Dangerous but amazing.

If you go diving, avoid Australia - especially the Great Barrier Reef. Too many stingy and bitey things there. Having said that - it is amazing..

It made me cry when I heard the news this morning, and I can't for the life of me think why, since I never watched his show. I'm having another little cry now, in fact. I suppose it's that he was so cheerful and enthusiastic and actually doing good things, and those aren't the sort of people we can spare.

I'm glad I'm not the only one.
It's because he loved the animals.
