✢ The Character
Character Name: Harry Sullivan

Abilities / Powers: He's a good doctor - he has a good bedside manner, steady hands and he's calm in a crisis. He's also a pretty good rugby player and rower.

Inventory: Clothes he's wearing, two white handkerchiefs, various loose change, keys for his flat, car and office.

Personality: Harry's a perfect gentleman who wouldn't be out of place in the 1930s. As far as he's concerned, women should be put on a pedestal and treated properly, which includes things like opening doors for them and pulling out their chair at dinner. That most women he comes across don't agree with him on those points never changes his beliefs on that front.

Everything with Harry is proper. When he meets the Doctor it takes him a while to get to grips with the idea that when he steps out of the TARDIS they're many thousands of years in the future. It helps, though, that he's called upon in his medical capacity and is nearly killed, so that is more important to think about at the time. However, he does leave the TARDIS at the first opportunity and stays on Earth in his own time after that.

He joins the Navy because he wants adventure and because he thought that shared friendships were based on hardship, which he'd learnt on the rugby field in school. Despite that, he initially finds travelling with the Doctor is a bit too much adventure and what he really wants is to leave the Navy and have a practice in the country. Probably with a wife and children too. So it doesn't help that no matter how much he might not admit it (especially to her) he's half in love with Sarah. She's a feminist and pretty much the opposite of Harry in her thinking. And furthermore, doesn't treat him in that way, no matter how much they like to wind each other up.

He also likes to tell stories. He told them to his step-brother and he later tells them to his friends in the pub. Of course, no one believes them, but it doesn't help that he changes the adventures he has slightly to make himself sound more heroic (however reluctantly heroic it is) and in some cases makes them up completely. The irony is that he is a hero, he just doesn't see himself that way. As far as he's concerned, he's just doing what's right and that's all there is to it.

Despite being passionate about what he does, sometimes at the expense of his personal life, he's a very private person, so it's not that easy to tell how passionate he is. Once he joins UNIT his work is secret so he doesn't talk about that (at least, not in a way that anyone believes) but he doesn't talk about his private life either. To the extent that one of his best friends doesn't know he has a step-brother, even after she's known him for thirty years.

The things that go on in Arkham will worry him, because they're not usual. But thanks to his experiences with UNIT and the Doctor, he'll at least believe they're real. But he's quite a laid-back person, so he doesn't tend to panic, although it's always possible that he just hasn't come across a situation that's that bad yet.
