With all of the political stuff going on, I suggest you all go and rent 'Mr. Smith Goes to Washington'.  It's amazing hoow a film from 1939 could have as easily been written today.   1939 was the best year ever for movies, and this one won the Oscar for Best Writing.

Lucy: Isn't that when you were born? Pre-historic era or somewhere around there? XD

I might have to check it out. I'm usually not a big fan of old movies, but I have to keep up with what my arch-nemesis is doing, y/y?

Young grasshopper, I am going to kick your butt.

You should totally get into old movies. They have actual acting and don't solely rely on special effects.

This movie doesn't fit into the genre, but I love film noir. You should rent some the next rainy weekend.

No, but I think McCain has a cameo in it.

Mr. Smith Goes to Washington is awesome. It makes me cry a little bit, though.

OH God one of my fave Jimmy Stewart movies evah!! and I adore Jean Authur in it too.

I am a big Frank Capra fan and I have this and Its A Wonderful Life on DVD...though I do love You Can't Take It With You also Jimmy and Jean in it.

Hmmm...may have to dig the DVD up tomorrow.
1939 kicked ass in terms of movies. Kicked ass.

I love when TCM does the 30 Days of Oscar. Most of these movies get shown. And Jean Arthur was gorgeous.

*blushes* I couldn't sit through it. I tried. I really did. But I think I am a product of modern Hollywood and I need something more flashy. It makes me sad because I love James Stewart. Rear Window is one of my favorite movies, and Anatomy of a Murder is awesome and helped me study for the evidence portion of the bar exam.

I actually like James Stewart in this one. Normally his overacting style gets on my nerves.

I like his movies better when he gets older, like in Rear Window and some of the westerns.
