So far, NaNoWriMo isn't going as well as I had hoped. Haven't broken 3,000 words yet, and by now I'm supposed to be around 10,000 or more. How did it get to be the end of October already? This year has been flying by far too fast. I did the first leaf-raking of the season this past Sunday, then did some more both yesterday and today, and still haven't managed to (un)cover the whole yard. I got to spend two nights in my own bed, and then the area got hit by a massively destructive storm this afternoon, which knocked out the power just a little before 3pm. While I was out hiking today, I had my very first encounter with a rattlesnake. I had seen them in zoos and on tv before, of course, but this was the first time that I had ever met up with one in the wild, where it was just me, the snake, and the great outdoors, with no protective glass anywhere in sight.
