Today started with a walk down to the local Tourist. Information desk, which the guide book says was supposed to be open by 9. Unfortunately it doesn't open until 10, so I went a little further to do the first half of Rick Steve's recommended walk here in Copenhagen. I was packed up and out of the hotel fairly early, but travel ended up taking longer than I expected, so I didn't get to San Soucci palace until 11:30, but it wasn't to crowded, an I got a ticket for 12:30. A reasonably early start from the hotel, but I still arrived at the main train station about when the 8:50 express (ICE) train was leaving. Rather than try to run for it, I hopped the local train that left 20 minutes later, but arrives 45 minutes later ( Read more... )

One good thing about the trouble with the trams yesterday is that it got me off in the right direction today. I headed out of the hotel, walked the one block to the tram, and headed back in the other direction, getting off at Nordbanhoff. Sitting on the train waiting to pull out of Dresden, and I have to say that, with regards to museums, Dresden is the perfect city for my style of tourism. Sixish museums in two buildings, with a few others in close proximity. There were a few secondary sites that I didn't attempt, but otherwise the city can be covered completely in two longish half ( Read more... )

Today started around 10:30 with a quick walk to the tram, and a ride back up to Prague castle to catch a couple of sites I missed on Monday. The first was the Loretta church just outside of the Castle. This is apparently a major Czech pilgrimage site, owing to the presence of a couple of boards from Mary's house (don't ask me).
