Why I Love Public Transportation: Part I

Dec 07, 2007 00:22

...because I don't have to focus on driving in traffic.

...because I annoy easily. Particularly when confronted with the following situation.

...because apparently driving schools don't consistently teach that the LEFTERNMOST (that's an original word, as far as I know) lanes are for going FASTER than other cars.

Not too late. That was the last thing before I fell asleep. Just had to get that stuff out of my head.

I realized that I have blog fodder bouncing around in my brain, and I should let it out. Because I'm thinking about unrelated crap all day long. I have to harness it somehow. If only to remain sane. In fact, I'll probably blog this paragraph under the tag "navelgazing."

You should try dealing with Houston-area traffic for an extended period. Well, no, you shouldn't. It's not pretty. I often lament that drivers down there haven't a single working brain to share among them. One simple maneuver that seems to escape most is merging lanes. I've frequently seen gigantic backups due to nothing worse than an on-ramp, or 3 lanes narrowing down to 2. In the end, I think it boils down to self-centered driving; most people tailgate and constantly weave, which causes too many problems for me to enumerate. And then, yeah, there are the jerks who won't get out of the way. If people would only obey traffic etiquette…
