I think its very quaint. I also think that it is something with your tastes could become beautiful over time. Something you could really "make yours". You should know, though, that I'm an avid fan of equity ... I never liked the idea of renting at all, so my views are going to be bias that way. :)
I definitely think that we're enthused about the idea of moving out of the apartment now. The challenge will be to find just the right property for us :)
It's a cute house. I like it. You're a very creative person, so if you do buy this one I'm excited to see the wonderful ways in which you use the space.
There is definitely a lot of potential. I'm spoiled by our current vaulted ceilings though...I was looking around and thinking "where will I hang my giant artworks?"
Me too! What I love about this one though is that it's an old house that has already had improvements made on it. Apparently a lot of older houses are uninsulated, but Kent had them blow in insulation from the outside, and he made all kinds of other improvements. I just wish so bad that the neighborhood was better. :(
It is cute - and I think it seems like something that would fit you. But you're right that if it's not much bigger, why move. Maybe get a feel for other houses and see what you see. It is really cute though and maybe the size is suitable for you two?
As someone else said, there are benefits to owning instead of renting. At least you are paying money into something real - and you get a nice discount on your taxes once you deduct mortgage interest.
I think our apartment feels bigger than it is because the entire basement is utilized like another room for us, and it's a very dry and clean and bright basement.
I just have this naggling feeling that if we moved from the apartment to this place, I'd end up missing the apartment in some ways. I don't want to move until we find a place that will blow the apartment out of the water. :)
I absolutely agree with Tatianne, and equity is a very good thing! What a pleasure it would be to make it yours, inside and out. Aaaaand I want to do your landscaping.
