The kitchen updates are definitely something long-term, though I bet the appliances would work just fine for now at least. The master is...yeah. I love the built-ins, but the space beside them for the bed is quite small, and the bedroom itself isn't that big. And I think the bathroom isn't any bigger than our current one! I honestly don't think it'd be too small for us in the long run, because we love the size of our apartment now, and really wouldn't want anything too much bigger.
But yeah...we're going to look at other places, because the neighborhood this place is in isn't the best part of town. It's not the worst, but it's a little seedy.
I love the idea of whatever space you end up in, being able to be creatively worked with and made Yours, because you have a real gift for that - and I like this house alot. I like the feel, the history feel, in it. Just not sure - there may be something even better...
I can definitely see you making this space yours... but I can see you doing that with ANY space. I admit that the tacky Christian neighbor would give me pause, personally, as well as how resaleable the street made the house. Definitely look around more. It's a good time to be a buyer.
The neighbor with the yard signs is RIGHT up against the house too. I mean, there's like...no wiggle room on either side with his neighbors, and no wiggle room in the back with the alleyway. It makes one feel a little claustrophobic.
