You are absolutely required to give her a hug for me before she goes to wherever she's gonna go. That sucks, I totally understnad the reasoning, but damn.
Don't give up at just your friends circle! PLEASE consider posting on Craig's list and Petfinder. Inquire at the local shelter about no-kill options in the area, and talk to local vets about the possibility of them doing adoptions, or if they have any contacts. And although, now that you've made the decision to rehome her, you might feel like you need to do it right away, I urge you to be patient with the process. I don't want to make this any harder on you than it is, but please believe me that a shelter is a terrible place for an animal you love, and that finding a new home for your pet is something that takes time and effort.
