I was going to ask how this guy got the job in the first place, but your last sentence explains it all. Hopefully it'll work out.

Yeah I didn't realize that being a pretentious asshole is one category that could get you hired at this place...

actually I'm sure he way over-glorified his previous work experience during the interview. He has admitted to me that his previous job was much easier and he got paid way more. And so far, this is the easiest job I've had.
