I'm totally still working on these.
For cincodemaygirl: Five Things About John That Rodney Hates.
1. AU: Historical
During the long Dakota winter, John will amiably jump into a debate with Rodney about any topic, any day of the week; the sole exception comes one February day when Rodney makes known his opinions on the Rebellion, to which Sheppard blinks once, gets up without a word, and stalks off through the snow to the stables on the other side of the fort. It's not until he realizes who Sheppard's father fought for that Rodney understands why.
2. AU: Earth
Rodney does not watch television often, so he only gets the network channels. John does watch, a lot, and only things with lots of action: sports or movies with explosions or--in a pinch--PBS shows about predators, and Rodney can only take dismembered antelope during dinner for so long, and so he finds himself on the phone with the cable company, listening to hideous hold music and plotting to strangle John with the fiber-optic cord.
3. AU: Gate
They work together on the zero point modules, months of squeaky whiteboard markers and simulations, but it's John who, late one night while Rodney is getting more coffee, lets out a whoop and dances around the lab in a fit of scientific breakthrough superiority.
4. AU: Crack
John skips about every seventh calculus class and has been given neither dentention nor a grade lower than A-, and Rodney cannot figure out how.
5. Atlantis
Rodney looks at John one day in the mess hall as he's shoveling hash browns into his mouth with one hand and joking with Ronon, and Rodney realizes that for the first time in his life, there's someone who he can't imagine living without. He excuses himself and has to take part of the morning off to quietly hyperventilate in his quarters, because he has never, ever, been so scared.
