So, the nursing home notified me today that my gran fell out of her wheelchair. A small gash above her right eye required a few stitches. This is the third "incident" in a month. State law prohibits physical restraint without written authorization from a proxy. I told her physician to have the paperwork drawn up. *sighs ( Read more... )

It's what you had to do, hon. You know about my abusive relationship. I couldn't get free of it and just kept getting hurt. Even though I didn't want them to, I needed my friends to force me away from him. Sometimes, you have to protect the ones you love by doing something they won't like.

It was necesary, please don't feel guilty or blame yourself.
It's not nice, of course... but at a certain age falling down can be fatal, it really is for her own good :/

I know the feeling, and I especially hope you can overcome it, it really doesn't apply to you for this :/

It's a hard situation but, in reality, it isn't anymore than a seatbelt in a car. The idea is to keep her from falling out of a vehicle. It's not like her arms and legs will be restrained preventing any movement. Think of the benefits.

Hugs & best wishes!

hun...you are not a bad person.......this will hopefully stop your gran from hurting herself. People sometimes have to do things in life that they don't strongly agree with for the better good. You are definately a good soul and God knows this.

*huggles n caresses softly*

In the fullness of time, children take on adult responsibilities...and adults eventually become as children.

Adults exist to protect children, and in this case your grandmother needs this relatively small protection.

Don't feel guilty; be glad you're available to offer it to her.

Peace.
