I was reading this study on self-esteem and behavior and one of the conclusions they had (which I quoted above) was that there is no correlation between being a good person (i.e. moral, law-abiding, etc.) and having high-self esteem. So good people come from all aspects of self-esteem, good, bad and mediocre. However, there is a one-to-one correspondance between violent crime and high self-esteem. All violent criminals have high self-esteem.
It got me to thinking, which is why I posted it as the "Thought of the Day". While I don't believe that having high self-esteem causes violent crime - I can see how in order to physically attack someone on a regular basis, and expect you'd get away with it, you'd have to be pretty damn confident - even if that confidence is unwarranted.
