Auditions for Sleeping Beauty

Siguard prepared the chairs in the auditorium and placed a copy of the script on each chair. He parked himself in one of the auditorium's chairs (leaving one open beside him for Arthur, after all, the Co-Director needed a place of honor. He was hoping to plunge himself into the play and hopefully it would distract him from some of his pain. He knew ( Read more... )

Arthur arrived, he had a huge hangover from the night before and his body was covered in hickeys. Damn Francis and his beer swilling GIT of a Kraut eating Gilbert. He felt like Hell, but he arrived, ON TIME to the Auditions and he pulled up a chair beside Siguard, greeting briefly the small child Troll sitting at Siguard's feet.

"Did she want to come watch?" Arthur asked smiling at the "so ugly she's kind of cute" Troll sitting well behaved and waiting.

"She is only staying briefly in the realm of humans. Her family will return for her shortly, so I promised to treat her to getting to watch people try out for the play." He responded, patting the child on her head as she gently petted the velvet seating of the auditorium chairs.

"Like a wabbit." She cooed at Arthur.

"Yes it is like a rabbit." Arthur smiled at her innocence and reached into his pocket and grabbed the roll of Parma Violets, a British Candy that tasted like flowers, and handed them to the small creature. His fairies loved these mints, he assumed the child would too.

The little troll happily nibbled on the pieces before climbing up to sit on Siguard's knee, where she held out pieces to put in his and Arthur's mouth. "Nom nom?" She asked,

"Yes, quite 'nom nom'." Siguard blinked softly in a nod as he continued to caress the troll child's nappy and unruly hair.

Feliks bounded through the doors of the auditorium with his bag full of various dance shoes and his hair pulled back. He didn't know what to expect, so he figured he'd be prepared for anything they might throw at him. He plopped down happily in one of the chairs and took a sip from his water bottle.

"Hi guys! Who are you talking to? Oh! Is this an acting exercise? I can totally do that." He grinned, enthusiasm painfully apparent as he awaited instructions.

"Hej Feliks. It is good to see the Now-Captain of the Dance Team has an interest in the theater as well." Siguard had been quite sure that Feliks would appear for the audition. Theater and drama seemed right up the transvestite's proverbial alley, and, interestingly enough, while they were probably going to have to dress some of the men (well... most of them) in women's clothes and have them play women's roles Siguard felt confident Feliks probably wouldn't mind it all that much and he would probably be quite comfortable in a female role. He kept that in mind as he waited for the others to show up. "Do you know which part specifically that you're interested in auditioning for? I can't promise you'll get the part, but sometimes it's easier to audition when you can absorb yourself into one particular character."

"The princess," he said confidently, no hint of hesitation with the fact that it was female role. Even if they hadn't been short on girls he would have answered the same way. He tilted his head. "And do you guys need like, a choreographer and stuff? Is there a lot of dancing?"

"The script has minimum stage direction if you notice, truth be told Arthur and I will be given a lot of liberties with our directing position, I don't think I would mind there being a little choreographed movement or dancing, but we will have to put it up to a club vote. You can bring it up at our first rehearsal. I hope this club will be democratic. It would be interesting to see the Fairies enter and exit the stage in a form of dance." He pondered, rubbing his chin in thought. This is certainly what he wanted to see in his Drama Club, the members helping coming up with ideas that could make the production better; bringing in their unique interests, talents and experiences.

Something like this was a departure for Eduard, but since his and Tino's first conversation during break, he had been making a conscious effort to branch out and maybe even meet new people. Example one: Gilbert's party. He found himself currently in the midst of example two and opened the door carefully moments after Feliks (who he hadn't yet met).

Eduard took a deep breath as he made his way down the aisle, not nervous per se, but also not as boisterous as the last entrant. When he got right down to the base componants of a high school stage production, it was something Eduard felt that he may be able to do, as he spent a good deal of time in costume at various Star Wars and video game conventions, including the occasional medieval larp session. They used lines and outfits there, so it shouldn't be so bad...right?

"Hello, all." Unsure of where to sit, he took one a few spots over from Siguard, who he recognized as one of Tino's friends. "It's good to see that I'm not late, I suppose."

"Well, this certainly is a surprise." The Norwegian blinked. It had taken him a moment to process who the individual was and why his face seemed so intimately familiar despite knowing that he'd never met the person and they shared no real classes. But then it hit him, of course, Tino had pictures of himself and his practically-family friend Eduard. That is why the face was familiar. "My name is Siguard Thomassen, and that is Arthur Kirkland. It's very nice to meet you Mr. Von Bock. I know you're a friend of Tino's. Welcome to the stage." It was a welcoming greeting, but it was also devoid of warmth... not that is was intimidating either... in face... it was really nothing more than stoic and controlled. This was the infamous Siguard Thomassen Tino had told Eduard about before. They had both managed to be close to the Finn without having ever really met before. "Are you interested in auditioning for a role and if so do you have a specific part in mind? You know you can cash in on extra credit points for a class in the arts, and I'm ( ... )

Eduard frankly wasn't taken aback by the lack of warmth in the Norweigan's tone. From what he'd seen of him at Gilbert's party and what he'd heard from Tino, the reaction he'd gotten was more than he'd been expecting. Not that he thought Siguard was cold by any means, he just assumed that one had to adopt a more reserved demeanor when trying to keep up with a boyfriend like Mathias Jensen. Arthur he remembered vaguely as well. The brit had been rather intoxicated at the party and Eduard himself had also had a few drinks ( ... )

"Would you feel uncomfortable at all if you were cast to play a female role? Surprisingly few girls have presented an interest in this show and while that is alright much of the cast is female so I wanted to know whom among those auditioning have reservations about what gender they play so Arthur and I can keep that in mind while doing casting." He nodded to the Estonian and to Feliks. He certainly hoped more people auditioned than just these two. Four actors isn't a lot, certainly not enough for their show even if everyone pulled double duty.

Feliciano ran into the auditorium with his usual high level of energy. He wasn't sure exactly what he was going to, or which part he might try to audition for, but, he was going to be there anyway!

"Hey everyone! Did I miss anything?" He asked, plopping down in a chair.

"Welcome Feliciano, no, you've not missed anything. There are still a few minutes before all the expected people arrive. If you would like you can read over the script behind you a little to get yourself ready." He said gently, motioning his hand to the script that Feliciano, the sweet but clueless one, had sat on.

"Oh!! Oops!!" Feliciano giggled and stood to retrieve the script. "Sorry about that!" He plopped back down and opened the script, reading through it and occasionally glancing around at the rest of the group. The script was actually really good, but that was to be expected with Siguard and Arthur directing it!

Hmm...Maybe he could try out for a part of one of the fairies! He'd have to think on that a little more, and of course it all depended on what the directors would think was best.

As if reading the very clear face of Feliciano Siguard piped up. "If it pleases you, you may audition any part, big or small, that you would like. I cannot promise that will be the part you will be cast in, but the audition is the time to have fun and be whoever you want for a few moments." ... Fun. Wow, said with a stone cold, but rational, face. Siguard's rationality could be considered cold, but he was never intentionally mean to anyone, and liked to have this known. Besides, sometimes he wished he could be as openly happy and in love with life like Feliciano and Tino were...

Alfred stepped confidently into the auditorium, wearing his usual cheerful grin. There were quite a few people here already, and they all seemed to be happily chatting about the play, among other things. Good, so nothing had started yet, he noted with relief. He took a minute to look around the room, his eyes focusing on the huge stage in the center.

Alfred had never done anything with plays or acting, (Which was odd, since he had such a loud, animated voice, perfect for theater...) but he figured he'd give it a shot. He needed that extra credit for his British Lit class, so if there was any chance he could get some by doing this, it was worth it... Plus, he'd never pass up an opportunity to be in the spotlight; to be the star of something! So obviously, he'd be going out for the lead role. The lead MALE role, that is!

"Hey everybody!" he called, making his presence known. He took a seat up front and waited to be told just exactly what he would be doing.

"Heya Siguard! You know, you can call me Alfred if ya want!" he said with a laugh. (He found it funny that this boy that was in his grade was calling him "Mr. Jones".) "Yeah, I know- I don't think Matt wanted to come at first, but I talked him into it! He should be here soon..." Alfred stood up and went to go pick up a script before sitting back down. "Just so you know, I'm going out for Prince Phillip, cause there's no way anybody's gonna put me in a dress!" Plus, the bold prince, the hero of the play, was obviously the perfect role for him! He flipped through the script and started skimming it, looking for a good scene to do.

"Alfred." he tried out. It would take some getting used to.

"You are welcome to audition for the role. I will keep in mind your uncomfortable feelings towards wearing a dress. There is other male roles. I cannot promise you the role of prince until I see your performance, but I shall try to keep you in mind for a role that keeps you in pants or leggings." Siguard nodded, blinking his often half lidded eyes slowly. "I'm sure, though, with how Mathias talks of you, the children will enjoy you performance regardless of the role you are in."
