In the United States from 1980 through 1995, a total of 1318 deaths were attributed to lightning.  The greatest number of deaths attributable to lightning occurred in Florida and Texas (145 and 91, respectively).

So work called me this morning at 6AM and told me I didn't have to work today.  I was exstatic as there is a swell on the east coast.  I promptly phoned mister Rice and we made plans to drive to Fort Pierce.  Grant came and picked me up and we loaded the boards and drove two hours to Fort Pierce.  The drive was nice through the middle of Florida.  ( Read more... )

Miracles and Mere Christianity.  I picked up Mere Christianity to read again.  I once had a copy but lent it out to somebody.  I didn't really expect to get it back and that's ok.  Maybe it'll get into the hands of somebody who will read it and start to ask some questions.

So we went surfing this past friday.  It was soooo freaking cold.  Grant definately needs a wet suit for when we go again this thursday and friday.  I borrowed a 7'6" fun shaped board from this girl that I go to church with.  For this comming swell I think I might ride a 6'6' epoxy.  Might be a little easier to paddle out on.  That big fun board ( Read more... )
