It isn't the sewing that is the problem. It is creating a pattern for the lining so that it works in the bag. Only one side is being seen on the outside, but it also has to attach properly to the fram of the book.
On an episode of Trading Spaces, I saw a project that I think would be simple and make a cool craft project: they took some 8.5 x 11 paper, drew abstracts on them, cut them into 6 squares, and rearranged them, gluing them on a board and matted and framed them.
My take: get a bunch of different papers, cut them up, randomly mix up the squares, and glue them on paper and frame and mat them. I think that could make a cool project, cuz as you say, there are so many nifty and interesting papers you can get at Hobby Lobby.
Yeah, and there is an even better place with cooler paper down south, it is a scrapbooking store and they have the crafters crack that I so desperately look for.
