Two words.

Crate training.

All you gotta do is not give in to the whining for the first few days.

I've been crate training him. But he's doing submissive peeing. We're ignoring him and walking away when he does it. Last night we walked way he ran straight into his crate with his tail between his legs. He also pee-ed when I was vacuuming and I didn't catch him nor saw him do it. The other times I corrected him with a "no" and took him outside immediately and praise him when he goes.

He doesn't really whine when he's in the crate. He's in the crate when he sleeps, and during the times when we are gone during work or when we can't keep an eye on him.

Is there something I'm doing wrong?

Jen bought a thing of Nature's Miracle that has this attached *motorized* spray handle. Does a very good job of saturating a very controlled area in the stuff.

yeah I saw that. That stuff is pretty expensive. But it's better than pee pee smell on the carpet.

are you guys using puppy pads too? and yeah i like the big bottle of nature's miracle that comes with the spray nozzle - less waste that way.

no puppy pads. I just want Turbo to go outside on the grass. He mostly goes once at night when we're around usually between 10-11pm, which is around when Viet gets home.

how many times a day total does he get to go out then? most dogs need a good 3 times. and puppy pads aren't totally terrible if you also use them outside as a way to "mark" the spot he's supposed to go on. then you can gradually just get rid of it when he pees inside less. saves your carpet a ton!

He really isn't a puppy. Here's his schedule. Although the schedule shifts somewhat after 1pm because of Viet's schedule. But it usually means that he gets more walks or goes to the dog park.

8:00am - out of crate and outside to pee
8:10am - meal and water
9:30am - walk for 10min
9:45am - crate
1:00pm or 3pm - walk for 10min
4:30pm - crate
6:00pm - outside to pee
6:10pm - meal and water
6:20pm - walk for 10min
10:30pm - last walk 5min
11:00pm - crate for bedtime
