Also, I'm not going to say I ship her and Giles, but I'm not going to say I don't ship her and Giles. Who's with me?

My actual Giles ship is way more wrong than Anya/Giles, but I do like them, so I'm with you.

Tabula Rasa is the best. I THINK I'M LIKE A SUPERHERO.

Hee! See, usually when I say the words "Giles" and "ship" and "wrong" in the same sentence, fandom knows exactly what I'm talking about and jumps right on the "let's judge Carrie" train.

So, yeah. I ship Buffy/Giles. I AIN'T EVEN ASHAMED. Even if I didn't ship them, I feel like the show has told us time and again how extraordinarily important they are to each other. The Watcher/Slayer dynamic, man, I eat that up with a spoon.

But really, once you've seen Season 6, you see the groundwork for this ever since like, Season 2.

Well, sure. It's more or less organic, I think; I just miss my old geeky gal-pal Will, you know?

I am pretty sure everyone on the planet cheered out loud when Giles returned, because he is JUST THAT AWESOME.

He is. And Magic!Giles is extra-fun. I can't handle all this badassery!

I kind of love the idea of Anya/Giles, to be honest. Like you said, I don't 'ship them per se, but I do enjoy the idea of them.

I think you really hit on a lot of my beefs with S6, and why I wasn't able to watch that season more than once through. I understand what the theme of the season was, and why the writers went where they did, but it just felt like TOO MUCH. The wedding-that-wasn't, Tara's death, the destructive nature of the Buffy/Spike stuff, Willow becoming the anti-Willow... Joss killed me that season, and I just can't go through it again.

Exactly. I also--and this is super-surprising for me, the most canon shipper who ever shipped--see the appeal of Buffy/Giles, a bit, though that's something I'm even less excited about admitting publicly.

Agreed, and I think this is why Xander/Anya hit me so hard--like, I expect Buffy and Spike to be angsty, and fine, Willow/Tara, whatever. Apparently my line between acceptable angst and angst overload lies with their wedding day?

Oddly enough, you reminding me of the ultra depression that is Season 6 is making me want to watch this show again. I was obsessed, and I have forgotten so much about it, man.

I love Joss Whedon, but I also kind of hate him at the same time. He writes brilliant things. His musicals are my favorite. But I don't think he believes in happiness, and that just sucks. It makes me angry, actually.

I totally agree with your comments on Willow. I had a couple (pagan) friends who loved Willow more than ever by the end, but I just missed the Willow that I had identified with so much at one point.

Tara's death sucked. She was my favorite character by Season 6.

And Spike was the reason I watched that show, really. Oh Spike.

Ha! Glutton for punishment. Joss LOVES you.

But I don't think he believes in happiness

I...think you might be right about this, or at least about the way happiness functions in his fiction. It does suck, sometimes.

Eyehearts, for sure. He's definitely the reason I'm most excited about S7, anyway.

So...wow. This brings up lots of memories and I have things I want to say, but I want to say SO MUCH that I don't even know how to write it all out. Season 6 is actually probably the one I have watched the most, at least certain episodes, (Two words: Naked. Spike.) and while it has flaws I still love it. So...ahhh, umm, call me, and we'll talk? To write out all my thoughts would be too much.

Execept this: Regarding Buffy/Spike: So when this first aired I was in the Buffy community as you know, and all the boards went nuts when they finally had sex. And they totally went nuts over the fact that you could actually HEAR Spike unzip Buffy's pants, and it was called "the zip heard 'round the world." Which is totally lame and fangirly, but it still makes me giggle. And also: If you didn't hear it the first time, go watch again. Actually....here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JHQeVyzY6fw

So yeah, call me! We shall discuss!

I totally get this. To the phones!

Ha! This is...unsurprising, somehow. All that Spike action!

Heh! Oh, fandom. You ARE dorky, and yet here we all are.
