summer reading, week 2
Work is work. We have had a very busy and successful first week of summer reading. And by that I mean that I haven't had time to do much of anything besides checking things in, checking things out, answering questions, and signing kids up for summer reading. First Day of Summer (Reading)
If you are a librarian, sometime around the end of the school year, summer reading starts. At this point, all of the children, newly released from prison school, come in droves to the library so their adults can force them to sign up for our summer reading program. Just in time for National Novel Writing Month. . . I am trying out Scrivner. They have a lovely little promotion on the nanowrimo site that instead of a 30 day trial, you get to use it until Dec. 7, so I can test it out, come up with an outline, use it to write, and then retrieve my (hopefully) completed story after the month is over. Dream

Buying Books!
I'll finally start training to be the lead youth fiction selector tomorrow. I am very excited. Unfortunately, I will get two days of training, and then I am off for a week on vacation, so I won't get to use any of my spiffy new skills. Ah well, that'll come in time. Work is good overall. At a Loss
It was supposed to be a good week this week. I finally was approved to be the lead selector of youth fiction for the county libraries, my last storytime of the season was today, and I am getting everything prepped and ready for my vacation coming up in just three weeks. Still alive
I haven't posted in awhile, but I am still alive. Still writing sometimes. More now than in a long time, actually. I have been at my job as a librarian for almost 2 years now, and even with a more realistic view of it, I still am happy with my decision to pursue this career. I have been single for a year now, and that was about the best ( Read more... )
