Inauguration, snow, and picspam!
SO HAPPY. OBAMA! And the proof is in the pudding. Or cake. (I tried, ok? No decorating experience...or skills, just butter knives). That ceremony left me feeling so optimistic. President Obama has a lot to do, and I think he can do it. It will take time, but we can make it happen.

All of my final grades are up and...my GPA for the last semester is 3.69!!! Cumulative, it is 3.48, short of the 3.6 3.5 needed for the Dean's List, but I won't complain too loudly.
HOLY CRAP! Who knows if it will ever be that high again, but I'm going to enjoy it while it lasts. I guess my History of South Africa professor really liked my final ( Read more... ) -
ringing in the New Year
Happy 2009, everyone! I did stay up to midnight, but because I am barnsitting and the tv has about 10,000 channels, I didn't watch the ball drop in NYC. Couldn't find the channel! Instead, I ended up watching Dog Whisperer and chasing two kittens away from my tea. ;)

I got up early to work on my South African final exam paper, which basically wants me to summarize the entire class, explaining in detail with examples the anti-apartheid/apartheid enforcement politics of the government, politicians on both sides, and everyday people, as well explain why it ended. Thanks to driftingfocus for the quiz link. I've been studying for final exams all day, trying to condense about 50 pages of medieval notes into something more manageable. I was hoping the quiz would make me feel a bit better about the academic world in general, and it did the trick.
