I didn't make the connection between your prior entry, and the LJ post by another Australian mutual friend of ours until now. I'm very sorry to hear.
(Our mutual friend locked his entry, while yours is public, hence my being oblique about his identity.)
Our mutual friend is already looking into this, but I had written in his journal about the possibility of a tele-consult/electronic second opinion by the Oncology Branch here at the NIH, if Lachlan has a US Citizenship connection (the NIH will do, and I myself have personally been involved with, electronic consultations for anyone who is, or has a connection to, a US Citizen).
Alternatively, I've taken care of international referrals from all over the world here at Johns Hopkins, and I could help with a second opinion process here, too.
If you think I can help, don't hesitate to contact me. And *hug*.

One of the impressive things about Lachlan is that he's developed a knack for collecting awesome people over the years as friends. My gut tells me many of them will be there on the night. :)
