Oh my! Though I think one of the comments on the second article is right, in that we do not (as of yet) have a direct quote saying that she should have ended up with Harry instead. But i honestly don't care, since the important part to me is that Rowling finally admits that R/Hr is not a healthy couple!! I hope the full interview gets out soon, so that we get the full scope, and maybe some long overdue "we were't delusional, thank you very much" recognition. That we did see what was always there, Hermione's devotion, admiration and love for Harry. (Along with her neglect and dismissal of Ron, because come on! What freaking wish did that fullfill?)
True. I was so excited about the news, I couldn't recall the article well. :p Interview summaries are so moody; you don't know if they're twisting the truth, highlighting a part of the interview that was extremely minor or if it is as they say. It could be that Rowling says she regrets R/Hr and the papers jump on the train that she thought she should have written H/Hr instead.
However, either way, this interview is going to be an interesting one.
(Along with her neglect and dismissal of Ron, because come on! What freaking wish did that fullfill?) Heh, I was thinking about her writing R/Hr and H/Hr all last night and I think that might be a case of Rowling not realizing what she was doing. Maybe she thought it was misdirect or it helped Ron be jealous of Harry (the locket scene in book 7?), however, her writing did not end up reflecting her original plan. Anyone else would have seen the writing as a sign to change the original plan. But Rowling did not and I think the books in the end suffered because she tried to change her

True, there are few things slipperier than newsmedia, politicians, lawyers and story-creators.
Honestly, a lot of things makes like no sense with Ron/Hermione, and especially the last book highlights this to me. I have said it before, and I'll say it again, I could have written R/Hr better in DH. At least I wouldn't have Ron depend on some goddamn relationship guidebook to know that "being nice" is a good thing, or to know how to talk to someone who he has known for 6+ years. It's like she realized she had no idea how to write it naturally so she just inserted the dumbest plot device she could come up with besides Felix Felices.
I heard of the relationship guidebook. That was...bad. Very bad. And yeah, I think I could have handled R/Hr a lot better if only it had been better written and had H/Hr not been treated badly as a result. I've had pairings I liked, but didn't happen. It's only natural. And of course, you don't have to make another pairing look bad to make your preferred pairing look good.
