Hmm...if it were an endoscopy, I'd think they'd say that...unless they're calling an endoscopy exploratory surgery, it sounds a bit like they're trying to charge you to cut up your pooch instead of put a little camera in him. I'm not sure which is more pricey though...they wanted to do an endoscopy on my cat...eek $$$$. *sends good thoughts Barney's way* Do you know if they think he swallowed something or if it's some kind of reaction, like an allergy?

It looks like he swallowed part of a toy or something, according to the x-ray. They did a barium swallow, and not much of it was making it past the stomach.
