In a more humorous vein every time I type that I envision hundreds of fursuiters fleeing a burning wreckage of a hotel in a disaster movie montage of epic proportions

Duncan and I will be friends with Belic and K'gra long after FurFright fades into the annals of history. I'm honestly more concerned about their well being, not the loss of the convention.
There is the " its mine, no one else can do it" thought, but also depending on how the con was set up it may be a legal reason why it has to end if Belic and K'gra wants to "retire" Sometimes a origination has to be dissolved and the assets distributed, and in the case of a non profit,to other non profits. I don't know how FF was set up. was it a non profit or not. The end of FF and a new group under a new name my be required. Or it could just be pride, as you said not wanting to see something you started and poured your soul into go on without you go on. Until Belic and K'gra actually say why, no one will really know
Ahh the Irwin Allen con! Still think that's a great theme and one I may use one day! ;)
Still reeling a bit 3 days later from the news, but I'm sure that pales in comparison to what you guys are feeling. I think, like you, I'm more worried about the health and welfare of the two you mentioned rather than where I'm going to spend my October 2014 vacation.
Of course, I'm not going to get out of your comments page until I thank you for all the work and effort you put into the con over the years. You played a large role in this tale over the years and I hope you keep the pride of building something great with you forever. :)
Mother of God, if I can get a con that has Lost in Space, killer bees, and a voyage to the inside of the human body all in one, I'd go for it and who wouldn't really? *laughs*
I am still coping to be honest. Today I went into the Headless Lounge's bin for a sharpie, there staring at me is the Bucket Brigade signs. I got to admit I teared up at the fond memories. It will take time. I am worried about the welfare of my friends as well and I do talk to them when I can.
PFFFffffffttt without attendees what I and others did was pretty meaningless. I mean if no one showed up it would be a sad con for sure. Large, I am not sure about that but I did play a role and did my best with it. I am happy with what we did in the time we did both the fun and the work were well worth it and will not be forgotten. Thank you for the the thanks and for Bar Wars! :)
