Does she understand that you're gay? I mean, the term "girlfriend" (used by a girl) often used to mean just bestfriend.

yeah she does. she just has a hard time with the whole thing. we had a conversation... the conversation if you will when i told her i was gay. i wasn't offended today, just ammused. shes a kind woman who's had to deal with a lot of stuff in her life. she din't mean to offend me.
