God, I was hoping that Adam would die. I don't find Thomas Dekker interesting at all, even when he went all gay and naked in Kaboom -- I could feel my brain cells snoozing.
The guy who played Nick wasn't a good actor but I liked the potential of Nick's character. Maybe, they'll find a Nick analog in a new character. Or Nick's witchy soul possesses someone else (a better actor with greater presence).
For our weekly dose of femslash, DID YOU SEE THE THING WITH MELISSA/FAYE? How demon!Melissa was totally being sultry with her, with strategic purpose, and Faye looked all tempted and then uncomfortable because Nick was there? Because THAT HAPPENED.
IT SO HAPPENED. It was a great follow-up to last week's ep where Melissa shouted Faye's name while she was making out with Nick and Nick just kinda took a beat looking confused/turned on before realizing Faye was in peril across the way.
Anyway, I wasn't attached to Nick, but I was still really surprised he was offed so early in the series, especially since this show is already girl-heavy (a stat I'm personally v.v. happy with BTW). I'll be curious to see what his death means to the power of the circle. I mean, they needed Cassie there to make their circle complete, so with Nick's death is it incomplete again or what?
And how extremely jealous Faye was over Melissa/Nick? yeeeeeeeeeeees.
I was just mostly surprised about Nick being offed because he was so central in the books. Nick was the alternate love interest for Cassie, to make the Diana/Cassie/Adam love triangle a square. I'm thinking that most book readers wanted her to end up with him.
I'm guessing that they'll have to bring another person into the circle? LOL, they should keep bringing in new fresh meat for Dawn & Charles to inadvertently kill with their bad plans. <333333333333333
I actually thought last week was really good too! Aside from the Cassie/Adam thing, show needs to stop. It is not developing organically. Also I'm kind of feeling for Diana. Even if she and Cassie should dump his ass and date each other. (Or Faye. Or lady OT4.)
I liked Vicki better than Nick, so whatever. Faye was right, he wasn't good enough for Melissa~ Melissa's sad face made me sad, but FAYE WILL COMFORT HER. Faye's whole issue with Nick seemed like she was jealous. And this ep basically confirmed the attraction. Showrunners better not pretend she's straight!
Dawn and Charles delight me. Especially Dawn. She's a little more restrained than him, but also seems to believe in necessity more. And she loves her daughter. Magnificent Bastard ladies always make me happy. And Grams is a badass. She's totally planning to poke around those two.
Faye's whole issue with Nick seemed like she was jealous. And this ep basically confirmed the attraction. I absolutely agree. It feels like they're writing her as some spectrum of queer. They better not pretend later that she isn't even bi. Sooo much vibing with the ladies. (Weren't her first words to Cassie that she was pretty?)
I liked last week, though I really missed Dawn&Charles. And Cassie/Adam is like watching grass grow. I feel like Cassie should be dating Faye, unless Faye is dating Melissa. And then Cassie should be dating Diana. Adam can go be forever alone. Or work on getting his dad into rehab.
Dawn and Charles delight me as well, because I appreciate ruthless characters who will break shit to get what they want. mmmmm (a)moral ambiguity. And I love that killing a boy with his bare hands is profoundly different to Charles than killing an adult by proxy. And I love that Dawn can compartamentalize better.
It feels like they're writing her as some spectrum of queer. They better not pretend later that she isn't even bi. It seems way too purposeful. Even my mom was like "...UH" with demon!Melissa and Faye. Fans talk about subtext a lot, but this is. IDEK. It's like they managed Salvatore level with less screentime.
(Weren't her first words to Cassie that she was pretty?) Definitely in their first meeting at the locker! I read it as a Regina George (Mean Girls) type thing though, to throw her off.
killing a boy with his bare hands is profoundly different to Charles than killing an adult by proxy Oh, that's a good explanation. I was kind of going "...you killed the protagonist's mom with fire in the first scene of the series. And you used to be friends with her." But bare hands is rather different! And Nick was his daughter's age.

I SO SAW THAT. THAT SO HAPPENED.
Still loving the older generation(s) more, but I'm so excited that this baby show realized the key to holding our interest was to kill more people. Excellent. Way to take a page from vampire diaries.
I best see some ladies kissin' soon, as they have now removed all possibility of me caring about a heterosexual relationship. Oh, Nick/Melissa, we hardly knew ye, but I liked both your little faces and faily ways, and I had so much residual affection for book!Nick.
I am impressed by the slaughteriness, but I am also sad. Whether this will turn out to be a good or bad thing, we shall see!
