Sorry to post about Furnet again, but lol...

Mar 30, 2011 17:40

I know it has been 9 months since I last made a post. I have one that I started about general life stuff, but it's set private until I finish it. Meanwhile, an update on the Furnet saga ('cause it's pretty funny)...

I have been connected to Furnet on alternate hostmasks since they banned me (the ban is described in my previous post) - mostly ( Read more... )

Wow, what a bunch of clowns they have running that network.

Anybody who knows you even a little bit knows you're not a threat to any computing system, being a law abiding person who has no interest in causing trouble. Yet they act as if you're some sort of "31337 super hax0r". What the hell?

And banning Yappy? Wow. He's pretty well known in the fandom and is another one of the nicest guys I know. Furnet just loses even more and more credibility when they behave this way.

Well, I can't say that I have "no interest in causing trouble", 'cause honestly, I do kinda get a kick out of seeing them react this way. Poking things with the drama stick and giggling madly is a bit of a pastime for me, but I wouldn't do anything that causes any actual harm. The worst I do is rile people up by making them think a little more outside the box (often by playing devil's advocate).

Did Furnet ever had any? Anyone that gives these clowns any fucking credit does so only out of complete ignorance. If it ever had any credibility, it certainly never deserved it. First off, it's an IRC network, that alone makes it uncreadible. IRC network ops are usually the biggest asshats on the planet. Second of all, it's a furry network, that mean instant fail.

You know, it's interesting reading that entry on the transition from FurNet to Anthrochat. There are things I could have done differently, and sometimes wish I did, but... What's done is done.

No worries, mang... Hindsight is 20/20. I say the same about some of the things that I did during all of that as well - particularly the /oper and /squit stuff on your server. It was kinda childish and disrupted not just #furry (where it was actually fairly welcomed) but every channel and user on the network at the time. Granted, it was only 10 minutes and I'm certain that we had suffered longer netsplits than that, but it's still the principle of it being "deliberate interruptions". It's also the principle of my betrayal of your trust. That's really what I felt the worst about after all was said and done.

YOu shouldn't feel too badly about it. Sometimes a point must be made. Sometimes the only way to make it is with a big fucking hammer.

Yeah, but at the same time, that's precisely what we're railing on the Furnet admins for doing.

I wonder how many seconds it would take for me to go from logged in to banned?!?!? :[= =] (jokingly of coarse)

Haha! That depends on how hard you try. Chances are, you wouldn't at all, but if you joined #Furnet and somehow alluded that you were me, probably less than a few minutes. :)

I can do it in under 10. Just use the username "polybun" or "Simba" A ban won't take long using either username. why?

Any users that shows technical knowledge superior to their own is feared.

Well, kinda.

I mean... There really wasn't much of anything. I have been connected and idling for about 9 months. Then, all of a sudden, out of the blue, people start getting banned in the name of me.

Furry fandom drama pales when compared to open source drama. :)
