Yum. Guavas are so wonderful! I ate my fill when I was in Hawaii. I like papaya too! Not a huge mango fan though. It's a texture thing. Lovely memory! Hugs

I wish I had liked papaya as I was made to eat some every morning. Now I understand but then ugh! I'm not sure why I don't enjoy melons much.

I'm glad you know how guavas taste too:)

I miss having both mangos and guavas. I've bought mangos here but they aren't as good as in Africa. I never have found good guavas to buy here in the States though.

Yumm, loved guavas when I was in Kenya. And I was reminded by your story of climbing a fence, eating guavas and then being chased by the farmer who brandished a gun. Us kids ran and ran!

How long did you live in Kenya? My father was born there.

I looked at your profile. You've lived in 7 countries? Wow! Which one have you enjoyed the most?

I'm glad you got away from the farmer:)

For six years, 1972 to 1978. Before that we lived in Zambia.

I suppose I liked Spain most, but wages were and are low.

Well, I hope you get to visit Spain again. Your profile says you were teaching English but did you/do you learn some of each of the native languages as well?

Oh all that fruit sounds delicious. How long did you live in Africa again? Have you ever wanted to go back? I think it's amazing that you got to be friends with a girl in that country. You must have met so many different and interesting people. Makes me want to travel.

It was about 2 years. I turned 7 while we were in Belgium (and then we moved to Africa) and I turned 9 right before we left Africa.

Yes, I would love to return. Partly because I never saw everything I wanted to while I was there and partly because it would be really special to revisit my childhood places as an adult and show those places to my children.

I've met so many interesting people, both in my travels and here in the United States. I've learned everyone has unique experiences and stories to tell.

I hope you do get a chance to travel and get to taste guavas one day:)

I have never even eaten one, only had things with their juice like smoothies and juice blends. The things I am missing out on!

You really bring this memory, this day, and this friend back to life again. Nice telling.

When you write about Africa it reminds me of the first time I read your writing.
