Oh how fascinating! May I ask why you lived in Africa? That's just so unique and wild. I have never ate guava, but you make me want to try one now. I'm so curious about your time in Africa... I never left the state of Missouri until I was an adult.

Great, great entry. Thank you so much for sharing - I really loved reading it :)

My father was born and grew up in Africa. He became a doctor because he wanted to go back and help natives in Africa ( ... )

The only good guavas I've had in the States were on the Big Island of Hawaii. And they were just as you described.

If you get this comment a million times, it's because my LJ is broken!!!

I am going to comment on this entry, so help me God.

Thank you for your commitment to delivering your comment! It HAS been annoying how LJ messes up so much recently.

I hope to taste GOOD guavas again one day. I've always wanted to go to Hawaii so maybe one day I can combine my dreams!

Childhood memories are some of our best, well written. I did not know they grew pineapple in Africa so I learned something too.

Yes, there were many pineapples growing near us. I'm glad as I love pineapple. I'm not certain if they grow there naturally (probably?) as I know some of the other US citizens there planted orange trees etc, as they longed for "a taste of home."
