Okay. I know I'm not the best person to be saying this because I have been guilty of both in the past, but just some food for thought...

We had a 45 year old patient just die of lung cancer.
We had a 36 year old patient that just died of alcoholic cirrhosis.

Imagine being on your death bed at 36 years old, knowing its your own fault. It happens. ( Read more... )

That is sad. I think I would be crying everyday if I worked at a hospital.

Its strange because you really start to view death differently. You come to just accept it as a necessary part of life, but when people die because of ALCOHOL it will always be just as sad as the first time I witness it. Makes you just sad cuz you know when they are dying in the hospital bed they are thinking "Damn. Maybe I shouldn't have done that." Always too late. Depressing. Blah. Maybe I just personalize it. I don't know.
