So the other day I was in microbio and the professor was lecturing about viruses and what not. She soon mentioned the prophage mechanism. What happens is a virus infects the host cell with its DNA and is incorporated into the host’s genome. For whatever environmental reasons it doesn’t do the normal virus thing and take over the cell and force it
