I'm flying back to Ohio on Thursday for a long weekend of sorting through Dad's house with my sister and brother. A big part of me would rather have a root canal and a testicle removed than do this. I know I'm late with this, but have a safe trip. Haveing done the cleaning out thing before, I don't envy you. Mind you, the people I was doing it for were retirement community dwellers, but still....

Best advice mom ever got on the subject is to pitch everything for 3 hours then take a break. After that, you start saving stuff that doesn't need saved.

The first day was fairly unproductive. All three of us felt like we didn't accomplish much at all.

The second day was much better. My brother and I cleaned out most of the basement, and I have the achy muscles to prove it.

I think we all felt better once we realized we couldn't get it all done in one weekend, especially since we ended up filling the 15-foot dumpster we rented. I may be back a couple more times, or perhaps not if my siblings feel they can handle it on their own.

Looking forward to returning home tomorrow :)
