Counseling can make it all much more tolerable and delay the need for meds. Still, seeing if a doctor feels you need pills will certainly offer you a chance to figure out how bad it sounds and whether the world is maybe less scary than your body chemistry allows you to know right now.

I had to face anxiety problems as well this semester and was also hesitant about whether or not to take meds.

However, I found out that I had some misconceptions about them. Most anti-anxiety meds aren't addictive, and they can help you accept the therapy you're in more effectively. It's only been a few weeks, but they've helped me quite a bit already. I don't feel "numb" because of them -- I have been able to feel calmer in stressful situations, both academically and socially.

I'd also encourage you to go to a Christian psychiatrist. (I believe from past posts I've read that you're a Christian, right?)

I'd never say do this or do that (well I would, but not in this case), but whatever you do, I hope it helps. I'm thinking I should see someone about anger issues, but just don't have the motivation. Good luck with whatever you decide to do. You deserve to be the best You possible.
