i used to really not care about whether people drink or not, but after a year of monday chats with my EX friends that sounded a little something like this:
"so.. what did you do this weekend?"
"i got so drunk!! and like, i puked all over the place! im so cool!! yadda yadda yadda" it's really fucking annoying.

I know I shouldn't care, but it bothers me. Whats the point? Really? All it does is bad stuff. I feel the same way about people that smoke. If you smoke, you are a douche. if you drink, you are a douche. Without exception.

I agree with you, that it is not a clever thing to do, (guzzling and snorting whatever fits in the face) but people have reasons for doing these things, even if they're dumb.

right now i'm inclined to agree with you after the annoyance of my flatmate spraying puke all over our shower the other night. When it infringes on my life it gets on my nerves, but really, if these people aren't harming you or inconveniencing you it's just better to ignore them and let them get on with it.

i don't live my life thinking i'm better than anyone for any reason. Do i know the innner workings of other people's minds? no. until I can know someone as well as I know myself I can't compare myself to them and judge who is better or worse. That's just the way I think.

I do. I don't believe people when they say they drink because they're depressed or whatever. I get depressed sometimes, but I don't immediately think "I'm upset. I know! I'll go get a beer!" People can believe that if they want, but I'm just saying i don't.

You can't generalise everyone that drinks as someone that guzzles or snorts whatever can fit in their face. i drink often enough but do you see me doing shit like that? no. and you can't say that everyone who drinks is uneducated either, because that's really unfair too. why have you turned into this miserable ogre recently? fair play if you're unhappy but stereotyping people because they do a certain thing that you disagree with is pretty shitty.

So, every person who drinks is uneducated and has no common sense and insults people for no reason? I don't mean to sound egostical but I can't think of a time when I've been like that. Drinking makes me uneducated?
I'm in college, Rachel, and I drink. I also enjoy reading and listening to good music and I am interested in graduating college one day. Sure, maybe drinking until you're shitfaced is not a good idea, as I discovered last night, but I don't apperciate you acting like you're better than someone who chooses to drink. Would you ever tell Ashley that you're better than her because she drinks every now and then? would you say that to me? Yeah I can understand the part of you who cares about your friends but going on with an attitude like that can alienate people really fucking quickly.

Please don't think that I want to not be your friend or that I'm pissed off. I love you and you're a good person.

I wasn't saying that drinking and being stupid and insulting people come hand in hand - just that, I've come across people who do all those things (people in my last school) and I consider most people better than them, because they were horrible, horrible people.

I'm not saying that anyone who drinks is a bad person, just that I don't understand why people choose to do it. I feel the same way about people that smoke. I'm not saying "if you drink, you're stupid, I hate you."

yeah but don't generalise a whole group of people based on what a chosen few did. there are ton of non-drinkers who are assholes, just like some people who drink are assholes.
