who ; Sarah and OPEN to other residents of SHODANland, as well as Delta, who'll be hacking into the network when SHODAN's back is turned.
what ; Sarah has shiny new nanotechnology running through her veins, and oh yeah, isn't allowed to leave Zone 7. She's not enthused.
where ; Zone 7
when ; Picks up right after
this fun encounter, but logs can take place whenever/whereever. She'll be wandering around trying to find a way out, so feel free to have her walk past your character's cage or meet them as they move around the zone.
warning(s) ; oh my god more Sarah angst shut up Buttercup. Possible body horror, mental breakdowns, violence and lots of swearing.
The drones, surprisingly, let her go.
Sarah dashes down the hall and out of the building, running hard for nearly two blocks before finally slowing long enough to look behind her. She'd expected the machines to be right on her heels, about to reach out and grip her shoulder at any moment...but when she looks, there's nothing.
That's unexpected enough to make her slow to a stop, turning and peering behind her.
The streets are empty.
She breathes hard, blinking sweat out of her eyes, and looks around wildly. Damn it, she has to get out of here, get back to John...There's a teleporter a few blocks away.
When she gets there, it won't open.
Neither will the next one.
Sarah cries out, smacking her hand against the wall in frustration, ignoring the way it stings. Fine. She'll fucking walk. It's not far to the garden zone, and hopefully the machine's control won't be able to reach into the jungle...
She's about five feet from the perimeter of Zone 7 when she just...stops. Try as she might, she can't lift her legs, can't make them move.
Some kind of invisible barrier, maybe? But when she reaches out with her hands, they don't hit anything.
She backs up - at least she can do that - and then tries again, running for the perimeter. She doesn't break through, or bounce off of anything, like she'd expected - instead, her legs just lock up again, and she nearly falls over.
Trying again a hundred yards further down just gets the same result. She throws a rock and watches it fly easily through to the other zone. It lands with a splash in a swamp on the other side, so close she can almost touch it - except she can't. She can't get there.
What the fuck is this?
Stunned and frightened, Sarah turns, looking around the empty streets. Trying her device again still gets her nothing but static. She barely resists the urge to yank it off and smash it onto the ground. No. She has to be smarter than that.
"Fuck you, you bitch," she yells up at the sky. "You think you can fucking keep me here forever?"
Oh, God.
