Okay, so I was outside smoking, and there was this periodical cicada nymph that had apparently just come out of its burrow. Its wings were SUPER CUTE and not fully formed yet, still being held close to the body and he was having some issues getting his above ground legs ( Read more... )

I used to hate all of them, then Johnny made me like some of them, the fucker. :-/

In fact, I have. I found one dying on my friends porch the day after leaving to head home from a DnD game (more evidence of my geekiness). By the way, those damned things are LOUD when they gather in numbers. You can hear them constently down here.

Ah HA! Very interesting indeed.

Loud, yes, some of their noises can be heard a half mile away, and that's from a single insect.

nope! i just love 'em. nowhere near as much as meerkats tho.
