What is wrong with people?

At least she wasn't telling people how to write or denying the last several decades of how fanfiction terms work or how fanfiction itself works.

People like that crack me up. THEY don't know what they're talking about. The whole point of fan fiction is that it's just that; FICTION written by the FANS. It's completely open to interpretation. When a show/series ends, the fans sometimes like to write "what-if" continuation stories to keep the show alive. (Myself included) There's NOTHING wrong with that. If people stuck to canon, it would be pretty boring, IMO.

Fans have been writing 'What-If stories' since the 80's (at least). Plus, this comment came from fans of a series that often wries What-Ifs for itself. It often deals with alternate timelines and realities. Why a fan would say 'don't do what the show does' is beyond me, especially when they want to lecture someone about it.' they also compared it to art, which makes no sense either. the only person who would complain if you made the USS Enterprise, but in rainbow colors would be Janeway.
