I got modwhacked over in attachedparentsI posted in reply to one of the comments that someone supporting me had (kindly) written in the long post that I'd written up my thoughts on the matter here in my own journal. I got the following message, in reply to that comment ( Read more... )

Sorry. You're not as good as if you were breastfed. Your mother did a massive disservice to society and you will NEVER be as successful as you might otherwise have been.

Yes. I don't know if the comment is still there but they publicly (in the post) made exactly the response that I gave above - I cut and pasted it from the e-mailed comment notification.

I didn't take it to a drama community (expressly forbidden in the user info). I just gave my own opinion in my own journal. Apparently I'm not allowed to do that!

surely this is something you can escalate to LJ - mods banning you because of comments in your private journal is completely out of order!

They didn't actually ban me - they warned me. I chose to go.

I'm not sure I care enough to take it to LJ...I suspect there's not a lot they'd do about it (and I don't want to be in the community anyway!).

and it looks like the comments supporting you were deleted or screened. that's completely ridiculous. nobody followed you to that post. we were already there. i'm done with them.

No matter how pleasant the majority of the community might be, if it's being run like that, I believe you're better off out of it.

I can only suspect that someone actually READ the comments on your LJ... and was not amused by the reality check.

Because it's amazing how people who were outside the tiny bubble of groupthink all saw immediately what a mix of arrant nonsense and offensive bullshit that was.

The nice thing is that the rules go both ways; you can say what you like in your own sandbox just as they can in theirs. (You could even delete any comments they put here, though I bet you wouldn't.) You didn't "bring in" people to side with you - that would only count if we'd all trooped over there to holler. The rest of it, I completely agree, that rebuke better applies to the twit who thinks any baby who's weaned before high school age will be a serial killer and also retarded*.

*slight exaggeration, but not by much, not from that comment you quoted initially.
